Welcome to the World of Escher(TM), we hope you'll
return to visit again and again. We'll constantly be changing and updating our pages with
new information, additional images and more stories and discussions.
We'd like your comments and suggestions. Our goal is to make this an interactive site
where ongoing discussions regarding Escher, his work and its effect can take place. We
also aim to create an educational site, perhaps a classroom resource, with a significant
on-line collection and exchange of ideas about the different images. We need input from
all of you teachers out there.
- Consider the following:
-
- Is this the first you've heard or seen of Escher?
-
- What is your favorite Escher work? (as we receive requests, we will be adding images).
- How long have you been an Escher fan?
- Have you written anything about Escher or his work?
- How were you first exposed?
- Have you ever tessellated?
- Would you submit an article, essay or tessellation?
- If you're a teacher, do you use Escher in the classroom?
- What are the reactions from your students?
- Is there anyone better than Escher to unite mathematical and artistic concepts?
Well, I think you get the idea. This is the material we are after.
We welcome your essays, articles, narratives, comments and opinions for our magazine.
By no means do we believe we are the experts on Escher but we are the biggest fans we know
of.
A few years ago, when we started to open our World of Escher(TM) stores, we had no idea
how the concept would be received. The good news is, it was received with open arms and we
have enjoyed success so far. The Internet and the World Wide Web are exciting new arenas
and we are thrilled to be here. Can you imagine what Escher would think about this? Like
many of his works, this site will go through hundreds of transitions and continual
metamorphosing.
In retrospect we were a bit naive about this project. It was first discussed over a cup
of coffee many months ago. How foolish we were to assume we could put it together in a
matter of weeks. Thanks to the hard work and long hours of our Webmaster, , we believe a site has
been created which we can be proud of and which you'll enjoy.
Enjoy your stay and drop us a comment on the way out the door.
